TITLE: Central American Technical Regulation (RTCA) No. 75.01.14:04: Petroleum Products. Illuminating Kerosene. Specifications
PRODUCT COVERED: Petroleum Products. Illuminating Kerosene.
SUMMARY: This Technical Regulation applies to illuminating kerosene, the petroleum middle distillate fraction intermediate in volatility between naphtha (raw material of petrol) and diesel oil, with the characteristics of paraffin and an American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) distillation (boiling) range of between 200C and 300C.

This Regulation establishes the physico-chemical characteristics of illuminating kerosene, a fuel used on a small scale in the domestic sector, mainly for cooking and lighting, in the absence of electric power. Other even smaller-scale applications of this product are as a solvent, pesticide agent and tractor fuel. Illuminating kerosene must not be used as a direct source of energy for food or beverage production.
